Theta (4-7 Hz) Enhanced creativity, meditation and the hypnagogic state. Children up to 13 are naturally in a "theta state of mind." The space between sleep and awake is a common Theta state.
Alpha (8-12 Hz) Mental focus, calm and relaxation. Prominent during dream (REM) sleep, this rhythm dominates the brains of most adults in their rested state. It is the flow state when time seems to stand still.
Beta (12-30 Hz) Conversation, physical activities, analyzing and processing information. Binaural beats help to quiet the mind to calmer states of awareness.
Gamma (above 30 Hz) Moments of profound insight and levels of high sensory information processing. This is the state reported by those in peak concentration and physical performance. It is most challenging to deliver binaural beats in this range.
