Mindful Mayhem: Pranks with a Purpose
by Karen Newell
When we think of mindfulness, we may initially imagine clearing our minds using meditation, engaging in self-care and encouranging overall good habits. It is, however, just as important to acknowledge and embrace the more playful aspects of life.ย
A little laughter can significantly brighten someone's day. After all, laughter is often considered the best medicine! So in the spirit of keeping things fun and playful, we've listed a few fun and simple April Fool's Day pranks below that you can try with your friends or family.
We hope your day is filled with joyful smiles and healthy laughter.

Mind-FOOL Fun
With anyone:
- "What's that sound?!" If you can appropriately access someone's phone or computer, reset their tones and alerts to new sounds! Animal noises are a friendly favorite. ๐
With the family:
- Tell them you'll be having seafood for dinner (or lunch!) It won't matter what you've actually got to eat, add some googly eyes to whatever it is. Instant "see-food"! ๐
With your co-workers:
- Leave a note on your co-workers desk that says "Please see me before the end of the day" with a signature scribbled on that's essentially unreadable. Don't let them scramble too long! ๐
With your friends:
- Show your friend any photo (this works great with outdoor pictures) then ask them to let you know "when they see it". Let them spend some time looking around and encourage them by saying "you'll know when you see it." ๐ผ๏ธ
Remember to keep it fun. Playful pranks should not cause any harm or genuine stress and fear. Keep your intentions fun-loving with those that you know will join in and enjoy the fun.
